DSME signed a contract for an onshore oil production facility on the 12th of November. This onshore platform will be installed on the coast of the Caspian Sea. The value of this new order is worth approximately 2.7 billion USD.
Additionally, DSME won a new order for six patrol combat corvettes from the Malaysian Navy on the 21st of November. A corvette is a type of warship designed for quick offense and defense, mostly used for patrolling coastal waterways.
Three units will be built at Okpo shipyard and delivered to Malaysia in sequential order, and the other three units will be built in Malaysia by delivering the ships in block form.
Maintaining a close relationship between DSME and the Malaysian Navy formed the foundation for this order. DSME has focused on fostering the defense industry both domestic and abroad. Since winning orders for three submarines from Indonesia in 2011, DSME has won orders for battleships from England, Norway, Thailand, and Bangladesh.
