The Hyundai Heavy Industries Group announced on March 1 that the group signed an MOU with WinGD of Switzerland on making an improvement to a ship engine diagnosis function.
This allows ship owners to standardize navigation methods that vary hinging on differences such as the proficiency and experience of navigators. In addition, the real-time monitoring, analysis and diagnosis of engine-related information crucial to vessel operations will enable more economical and safer navigation.
The Hyundai Heavy Industries Group will be able to actively respond to smart shipping and e-navigation that the International Maritime Organization (IMO) will introduce for the digitalization of the ship navigation management system in 2020. In this regard, Hyundai Global Services, an affiliate of the Ship Service Division of the Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, is planning to expand its after-sale service business area, including preventive maintenance in line with the advancement of engine diagnosis technology.
